Dry Falls

Last Updated:

It was another scorching summer day in Eastern Washington when my family from Seattle visited. This time, I took them to an awesome place called Dry Falls in Grant County, just north of Moses Lake. In the summertime, temperatures in this area can easily reach over 100°F. Make sure to bring plenty of water with you if you decide to visit this place.

During our visit to Dry Falls in July 2023, the temperature reached a sweltering 101ºF. It was very hot! We were only able to stay and look around for a short period of time before going back to our air-conditioned vehicle.

Location

Dry Falls is located just off of Highway 17, north of Moses Lake, Washington. From the highway, you can just pull in to the parking and walk right to the vista point. The visitor center does not need to be open for you to sneak a panoramic view of the park below and the awesome view below.

Address: 35661 HWY 17 North, Coulee City, WA 99115

Admission Fee

It’s free to visit this park from the vista point but you can make donation inside the visitor center if they are open.

parking

According to the park’s website, you will need to have Discover Pass in order to park there.

Tips for my next visit or yours:

  • Next time, try to be there before sunrise. I think that would be an awesome view.
  • Explore the lower part of the park where the lake is but I’m told there are rattlesnakes in these areas so bring a snake bite kit.
  • Maybe visit during winter time when there are snow on the ground and see what the landscape looks like then.
